Most people believe pain comes from traumatic injury or disease. This is not true, more often than not your neck pain is caused by prolonged inappropriate posture activity. For example, sitting down for long periods of time, using a computer with improper ergonomics and repetitive movements associated with work. The neck anatomically has one of the hardest jobs in the body in that it has to support a 8-12 lb head. Any position where the head is not sitting on the neck in a central position will cause extra stresses. Think of trying to balance a penny on a table, for it to stay upright it has to be in a perfect position. If the head is not in that perfect position it puts stresses on the muscles and the spine below to help compensate for this misalignment.
When muscles compensate for a neck misalignment they cause stress on the body which leads to pain and decrease range of motion. You might also notice some clicking and popping in the neck which is an unstable neck position. The longer you go without getting your neck corrected the more stress you put on your body.
Neck pain can lead to symptoms of:
Headaches
Migraines
Sleep problems
Arm pain/numbness
Balance problems
Mental Clarity
Dizziness
and other back symptoms.
Medical/Chiropractic research has shown chiropractic care is an effective way to minimize and correct these problems.
What should you expect?
In correcting neck problems its important to find the main cause. At our office we do extensive testing to make sure we know what is causing your problems. We use protocols to determine what needs treated and whether or not our treatment is working. The adjustments are very light and gentle. Most patients feel considerably better after the treatment.
Our goal is to make sure your the neck is working in unison with the rest of the body and functioning at 100%.
